While Turkiye, just as any country seeks to protect its interests in its diplomacy, it also seeks to take risks in important issues in the name of humanity. Turkiye which previously has demonstrated a successful diplomacy in countries like Libya, Syria and Palestine among many others, this year has been able to secure the grain corridor thanks to its efforts of mediation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Thus it salvaged the world from the troubles with grain.
If Turkiye wouldn’t have secured the grain deal, 800 ships with an estimated 25 million tonnes of grain wouldn’t reach the world. Also thanks to its efforts, the grain deal which was supposed to get expired by March 19th 2023 was extended.
The latest example of Turkiye’s efforts in international diplomacy was its offer to mediate to reduce the tensions between Ethiopia and Egypt. Turkiye which unlike many countries is interested in the peace between Ethiopia and Egypt, thus demonstrates its ability to prevent crises on both regional and global scale.
